Why choose veneers?

Why choose veneers?

Porcelain dental veneers are one of the most versatile cosmetic treatments available. These wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored porcelain are designed to cover the front surface of your teeth, correcting a wide range of aesthetic concerns in as few as two to three visits. Whether you’re dealing with stained or discolored teeth that haven’t responded to whitening, chips, worn enamel, gaps, or slight misalignment, veneers can address all of these issues at once — delivering a complete smile transformation with natural, long-lasting results. According to research published in the National Institutes of Health, porcelain veneers have become one of dentistry’s most successful innovations for restoring both aesthetics and function with a conservative approach. At Smile Design Holistic, we craft every veneer with biocompatible ceramic materials that align with our holistic philosophy — no metal, no compromise.

The Benefits of Veneers

Naturally Beautiful

Porcelain is specially selected for dental veneers because it closely mimics the way natural tooth enamel reflects light — giving each veneer a realistic translucency and lifelike finish. The result blends seamlessly with your surrounding teeth, and because porcelain is stain-resistant, your smile stays bright long after treatment.

Easy to Care For

Caring for veneers requires no special routine — simply brush twice daily, floss regularly, and keep up with your professional cleanings and exams. To protect your investment, avoid biting on hard objects like ice and consider a nightguard if you grind your teeth while sleeping. With proper care, porcelain veneers can last 15 to 20 years.

Strong and Durable

High-quality porcelain veneers are incredibly thin but manufactured from materials with strength comparable to natural tooth enamel. They are bonded directly to the front surface of your teeth using a durable dental adhesive, creating a secure, long-lasting attachment. With routine dental care, most patients enjoy their veneers for 15 to 20 years or longer before replacement may be considered.

The Veneers Treatment Process

Preparing Your Smile

Your veneer journey begins with a personalized cosmetic consultation where Dr. Baghaei evaluates your oral health, reviews your smile goals, and confirms veneers are the right fit for you. If any underlying issues — like gum disease or decay — are present, those are addressed first. Once you’re cleared, a small, conservative amount of enamel is gently removed from the front surface of each tooth being treated. This step creates space for the veneer to sit flush and naturally, and it’s performed with your comfort as the priority.

Preview Your New Smile

After your teeth are prepared, we use our iTero digital scanner to capture a precise 3D model of your smile — no goopy impressions. These scans are used to design your custom veneers, which are then sent to a dental ceramicist for fabrication. In the meantime, you’ll wear temporary veneers that protect your teeth and give you a preview of your new smile. This phase is a great opportunity to share feedback on color, shape, or length before your final veneers are placed.

Reveal Your Radiance

When your permanent veneers are ready, you’ll return for the final bonding appointment. Dr. Baghaei will carefully check the fit, shade, and contour of each veneer, making any necessary adjustments before permanently cementing them in place. Once bonded, your veneers are polished to a natural sheen — and you’ll leave with a complete, confident smile. We recommend scheduling a follow-up a few weeks later so we can confirm everything feels comfortable and is settling well.

Digital Smile Design

With Digital Smile Design technology, Dr. Baghaei can show you what your smile will look like before a single tooth is touched. Our software maps your facial features, tooth proportions, and smile line to simulate your post-veneer results — so you can visualize the outcome, ask questions, and feel fully confident before treatment begins. This technology is especially valuable for patients planning a full smile makeover with multiple veneers. Not sure veneers are the right fit? We also offer teeth whitening and dental bonding as alternatives depending on your goals.

Comfortable Digital Scanning

Traditional impressions can be uncomfortable and imprecise. At Smile Design Holistic, we use our iTero Intraoral Scanner to create an accurate digital 3D model of your teeth in just a few minutes — no trays, no putty, no mess. These digital impressions feed directly into your treatment planning, allowing for more precisely fitted veneers and a faster turnaround from the dental lab. It also means fewer adjustment visits and a more comfortable overall experience.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Check out these frequently asked questions, or call us to speak with our team.

Can veneers be removed?

Veneers are considered a permanent treatment because the process requires removing a small amount of enamel from the front surface of your teeth. Once that enamel is removed, it cannot grow back — so the treated teeth will always need to be covered with veneers or dental crowns. With proper care, however, high-quality porcelain veneers can last 15 to 20 years before replacement becomes necessary. Your dentist will walk you through all long-term considerations during your consultation.

How long do porcelain veneers last?

On average, porcelain veneers last between 15 and 20 years. Their longevity depends on your oral hygiene habits, bite alignment, and lifestyle choices. To extend the life of your veneers, brush and floss daily, attend regular cleanings and exams, avoid chewing on hard objects like ice, and wear a nightguard if you grind your teeth while sleeping. Stain-resistant porcelain also helps your smile stay bright over time without additional whitening treatments.

What cosmetic concerns can veneers fix?

Porcelain dental veneers can address a wide range of aesthetic issues, including stained or discolored teeth that don't respond to whitening, chips and cracks, gaps between teeth, worn or uneven enamel, and slight misalignment or asymmetry. They cover the front surface of your teeth, effectively transforming color, shape, size, and spacing in a single treatment. For severely damaged or decayed teeth, crowns or other restorative options may be more appropriate — your dentist will advise you during your consultation.

What is the difference between veneers and Lumineers?

Lumineers are a brand of ultra-thin veneers, typically around 0.2mm thick, versus traditional porcelain veneers which are around 0.5mm. Because Lumineers are thinner, they may require less enamel removal — though this varies case by case. Traditional veneers tend to offer more flexibility in correcting color and shape and are often the better choice for more significant cosmetic concerns. At Smile Design Holistic, we use biocompatible ceramic materials aligned with our holistic approach to dental care.

Are veneers covered by dental insurance?

In most cases, porcelain veneers are considered a cosmetic procedure and are not covered by dental insurance. However, if veneers are being placed to restore a tooth damaged by injury or decay, partial coverage may apply depending on your plan. We recommend calling your insurance provider to confirm your benefits before your consultation. For patients without coverage, we offer CareCredit, Cherry, and Lending Club financing to make treatment more accessible.

What are the alternatives to porcelain veneers?

If veneers aren't the right fit for your goals or budget, there are several alternatives worth considering. Professional teeth whitening is a great option for discoloration alone. Dental bonding uses composite resin to repair chips, gaps, or minor imperfections with no enamel removal required. For alignment issues, clear aligners or braces may be recommended. Your dentist can review all available options and help you find the most effective path for your unique situation.
